Call for Proposals - Deadline passed.
MinneSLIFE, a standing committee of MinneTESOL invites proposals for its annual spring conference. This conference brings together educators, scholars, parents, policy makers, and community members to focus on the social, cultural, and political work of educating students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE). This year, we invite proposals on a wide range of topics, all with a focus on SLIFE.
Proposals should be submitted through our online submission system HERE by February 2, 2018. In your submission, you should indicate if you would like to be considered for one of the following presentation formats:
Proposals must be closely connected to SLIFE and include the following information:

- Educating refugee-background youth
- Parent involvement
- Multilingual pedagogies
- Adult learners with limited first language literacy (LESLLA)
- Socioemotional and mental health and trauma
- Religion and education
- Assessment practices
- Advocacy and racial equity work
- Teaching strategies
- Histories/Ethnic Studies and SLIFE
- Migration studies and transnational mobility paths and processes
- Language and education policy, including the LEAPS Act
- Culturally relevant, anti-oppressive pedagogies
- Oral indigenous traditions and orientations

- 30 minute presentation - suited to research presentations
- Poster presentation - suited to highly visual information and small group interaction
- 60 minute session - suited to teaching demonstrations and more discussion
